wasn't that Tweeter? They carried all the Martin Logan speakers
Tweeter as near Euclid and University - it was kind of a Best Buy store.
the one I was thinking was actually near El Cajon Blvd and college
they had Acoustic speakers and even had reel to reel players form sale
early 80 's
Yeah Tweeter was a chain, the employees were always happy to ignore me lol...
Also back in the 90s there was a high end store on Clairemont near the 15 hwy (opposite end of Clairemont/Stereo Design), they sold McIntosh gear exclusively, family ran.
There was also a smaller shop at the Chula Vista side of the 805 hwy, where National City ends, can't remember the name here at work but it's on my computer at home. Thats where I first heard the bigger Maggies, a pair of 3.3's.
Not a dealer but exporter, PBN audio builds high end speakers, components and TT located in El Cajon, was there once to audition a pair of MG20.1 the owner was selling (I think he was selling them for a friend) And took a tour of his facility. He told me his biggest customers are orders from Russia
in about 1981 there was a stereo shop near san diego state that sold at the time new production reel to reel tape
they would play the song " ECHOS OF LOVE " as a demo - LOL
I first went into Bruces "stereo unlimited " about 1982 and bought a set of Celestion SL6
I first heard Maggies at Stereo design in the 90s - they sounded like excrement because unknown to me they used the wrong amp - great store but they always had the most expensive path to any sound goal you might have had.
Ironicly the best sound I ever heard in town is when Bruce had apogee speakers or when I went to Briar sound and they played the Brazilian rosewood K-horns .... that was a revelation as most places where pushing the dopey mini monitors
