Propbably a + pricewise
But people who've heard both say there is an improvement.

I wonder if a "+" improvement is different from an "i" improvement. At this point the only known common factor is that no one knows what is involved in the "improvement".

The way I understand it, there isn't any performance advantage. It's an identical speaker except for aesthetic changes to the profile.

Life is hard. It's harder when you're stupid.
+ is plus stands...marketing 101 ... now that they have them..(joking)
He does?
I saw that video when it came out. He says it sounds different, but he's a "reviewer" and a complete non-technical guy, so I don't put any weight in his evaluation at all.
Plus, he says he asked Magnepan what the difference is, and they were mum.
Dave.
Come on Davey. Are you seriously dismissing someones hearing because they are a "complete non-technical guy"? Like only technical guys can hear and evaluate sound??

Absolutely! Guys that have no technical chops have no business listening to loudspeakers.

that the + was thinner ? They were already pretty thin, LOL so I'm not sure what that means. She also said a pair of stands to raise them is a must to get the most out of them, whether theirs or aftermarket. I expect we will find out soon enough what the differences are.
I interviewed Wendell at the Texas Audio Roundup and asked him this very question. What's the difference? My argument was that if I'm a customer why would I want the + over the non? Below is a video I did with him about the new Magnepan Woofer prototype. Will be releasing the interview soon that talks about the LRS vs. LRS+ as well.

If the motors are different in some way I might believe there's a potential difference (or maybe improvement) in the "+" model.
But if not, it's either a slight change in a crossover component value and/or the reconfiguration of the stand scheme. In either of those cases an existing user can update his/her own speakers. :)
The pathetic answers from Magnepan to legitimate user/customer questions is growing quite tiresome and irritating.
Dave.
It's measurable as well as audible. Nothing to do with the crossover! You'd grasp the concept right away, maybe hit on it yourself. Those who have heard it (I haven't) say it has better resolution. I'm told the stand also makes a big difference. Nothing secret about that, LOL. I did it with my MMG's years ago and I assume you mounted yours vertically above the sub?
So, the actual transducer unit of the "+" speaker IS different????
Why can't they just say that for crying out loud???? :)
Dave.
LOL
Davey? How do the LFT compare to Duetta? looking at a set of LFT 3 Thanks
Those should be fun and a nice addition to your collection.
I had the LFT-8 hybrid.....so somewhat a different beast.
Dave.
