Sorry that the current set-up is not meeting your needs -
You raise an interesting point - in that the measurements are not everything.
Ironically Most of us do not have the tools to measure what we have in the room we have it in-
Yet the measurements sections of the review are becoming the standard by which products are lauded or dammed.
The response of a speaker will greatly depend upon the room, unless the speaker is being measured within ~6" of the transducer-
Hardly how we listen to music-
And the room effects are quite significant....

It's pointless trying to measure a flat panel 5' high, 6" away from it?
You need to put the measurement mic at your listening position.
So, yes - the effect of the room needs to be understood.
