The advantage of the 3.6 is it can be bi-amped.. They both need the same amount of power which is really a lot.1.7 or the 3.7 draws on one amp or mono block amps. You can bi-amp possibly with modifications and crossovers. You misunderstood what I said. The .7 series is a great achievement and it saves you a fortune in electronics... Unless you are into the neurotic end hobby and not the music you are asking for trouble going back 15 years in time to a speaker that is not superior to the .7 series. Magnepan knows what they are doing.
...-that his current amplification would be fine with the 3.7, but not the 3.6. As it happens, I currently have my 3.6s biamped with line-level crossovers, and it is definitely a step up.
