The Carvers could certainly be done at a much lower cost, and surely would sound impressive.
My thoughts for LRS?
Stacked vertically, with top to top, in a solid frame. Don't think I could justify the size & cost of 4 pair to stack, AND "kiss" them.
I have side stacked 1.6 + 1.5. The second pair adds another dimension of everything - more dynamics, cleaner sound/less distortion (as they do not need to be pushed as hard), more presence of voices. Shall I go on...?
I have tested this setup for almost two years and I cannot go back to "only" one pair of maggies ever since... I still want more slam, but it is most likely due to room/speaker setup.
They are on top of this running high pass @ 80hz and matched with 4 x 15 inches in closed boxes, 2 per side. Some music still lacks a bit of slam IMHO...
