If in good condition, a bargain.
Has the seller mentioned any work done at any time?
Play them pretty loud, listen carefully for any irregular sound, vibrations, etc. If possible remove the socks and inspect the wire as its applied, any loose spots. Look for cold solder joints.
If they have never been repaired, then yes, pretty darn good chance you'll have to at some point.
Follow Ups:
I have Original IIIa's I bought new from 1987.Use them in my Home Theater, and they were never repaired, and have original tweeters.
Still sound great Today.
Will "blow away" all the shorter, non ribbon tweeter models IMO.
Closely compare to all the newer six footers.
