How many peoople even remember 2001 Space Odyssey?
I thought it was a great video, very well done.
Whether or not you can observe a thing depends upon the theory you use. It is the theory which decides what can be observed. - Albert Einstein
Follow Ups:
I remember seeing it in the Cinerama theater when I was about 12 years old. My friend's mom took us to see it as part his birthday party.
My highschool psychology teacher owned several movie theaters, and it was playing at one of his theaters for a very long time. He gave any students who wanted to see it a signed note for admission. I was 17 and took my 15 year old girlfriend to see it, and my teacher was standing out front collecting the notes and handing out tickets. I guess he wanted to see who actually went! Saw the film at least two or three more times at theaters over the years. Jeeze, that evening will be 50 years ago later this year!
back in 1972, I remember it well as it was one of those things I did without a parent around (me and a cousin went downtown to watch it). Most astronauts and astrophysics have always referenced Krubicks film as a masterpiece and spot on technical wise.
As a 12 year I was astonished by the special effects but couldn't really follow the script. Ditto for Charlton Heston who was said to have stood in a theater and called it crap before he walked out. I guess he was also expecting space monsters in cheap costumes.
I'm a big fan of the first three Star Wars but you would think after 40 years they would come to grips with the fact that winged space craft have no use in deep space, and if you can 'bank' a space craft in space tight enough to pull a few G's, then they also wouldn't need wings on a planet that has an atmosphere. Yeah I 'get it'; it's what the folks want so who cares right?

At ~0:09 the ape seems to be scratching his head trying to decide which of his amps to use on them. I think many people still associate 2001 with space exploration. It was so good that advocates of conspiracy theory tied Kubrick to the photography in the first moon landing.
The sound track for Sony's 2001 (aside from the main title's Also Sprach ...) features the music Gyorgy Ligeti before he became so popular in large part due to SK's use.
Here it dwarfs a LRS (closer to a Martin Logan?):
Ligeti's music ,is also found in Kubrick's EYES WIDE SHUT, and dominates the drives of the 'control' obsessed characters, most beautifully conceived.
Utley 1, thanks for the tip. I own both the DVD and BD of Eyes Wide Shut. I haven't watched EWS in long time but intend to remedy that this PM, and keeping my ears open for Ligeti and eyes open for Nicole Kidman, but mostly trying not to fall asleep.
Hi Norm:
It is in the Ligeti collection from Sony, available individually number 5 ,MECHANICAL WORKS.In this case the score practically drives the movie with its repetitive ominous pattern. Almost simple minded, but perfect for the characters.Did not realize it was Ligeti until years after I saw the movie..Lots of great sounding music for your set up on the barrel organ .

The largest M-L is the Neolith which is slightly over six feet.
Sound Lab makes nine foot tall models in both wood and steel frames. :)
Pure theft of intellectual property Chinese style-glad you approve!
Good thing Acoustat is no longer in production, people might get confused. We have some real Debbie Downer's on this forum. Maybe it's Covid Constipation? Anyway it's just Audio, take a chill 💊 pill.

No pill for moral ambiguity.
Because the morality of nerd,
Reflects the morality of the herd,
SO WHEN SAVAGING GENIUS , EVERY COMMONER MUST BE HEARD
In the meantime I leave the pills to you,
To use at your leisur, since you must have nothing else to do,
Let me avoid a chill, or pill,
And allow genius un-mocked, to offer a spiritual thrill,
To live and die with a LRS
Seems to me more like an SOS,
Nt.
