The Asian market, the figures they drop on this kind of "audio jewelry" is mind boggling. I know a few manufacturers that produce lines just for Asia, at prices we we can only shake our heads at, but they just "love it" over there.
Follow Ups:
There's a local guy here in San Diego who builds his own line of speakers (I've forgotten his name but maybe M3 Lover remembers him), went to see him years ago because he was selling a pair of MG20.1's. Didn't end up buying those but I did get a tour of his facility. Fairly large box speakers all in the upper 5 figure range getting ready to crate up. I asked him where they were going and he replied 'Russia, they buy these like hot cakes'.

Yes Peter offers a large number of models, including some very large and expensive ones. I think he readily admits the major market for his largest and most expensive speakers is overseas, with a significant portion of those going to Russia.
I didn't mean to imply there is no market for ultra expensive components, only that it is very limited and there are other companies in addition to Krell attempting to sell there. But maybe as suggested the Far East market is greater than I realize.

They're in Escondido. Heard them at the THE show a few years back, nice, but not outstanding.
