get Dan's latest vision, a pair of Relentless amps with ~ 4000 joules of energy storage. Save a few bucks as they run merely $250K.
Doesn't the expression on Dan's face suggest he is laughing at the people who would actually buy such a monstrosity? Ridiculous (imo, of course).
When the Threshold S/550e from the early 90's came out, I decided some day I would have to own one. It weighed 97 pounds, was 2 feet long, and was beautiful to behold!
Years later, I made a vow after I bought a used one, that I'd never buy anything over 70 pound again. Moving that beast was a major PITA.
These pics still make my heart race. What do you think?
I concur entirely with your thinking. Back when I got it, it was a bear to move (105 lbs) but I could heft it decently, I have a good back, just use proper form, etc.
Now, I am a cursed man. I can *barely* still move it around, but up or down stairs, oh man, well, I did it earlier this year, took me about 45 minutes, with copious resting.
Age is such a cruel little jerk.
I probably should sell the BAT system someday, just for practicality sake.

When an amp gets that big and heavy, time to split it into two mono amps. But as we know, some make mono amps just as big and heavy!
Beautiful, a classic piece of audio art! One of the big names from the past.
