Unfortunately, my current abode is too small for my 2.5's. I tried to make them work for a couple of years. They sounded a bit squeezed and yelled I "I need more room man!" I tried a few speakers, nothing could come close to the imaging, detail and soundstage of my Maggie's, well until I bought a pair of Totem Acoustics Arro's. These little guys sound huge and produce a huge and holographic soundstage. They were a breeze to integrate with my subs, set the subs at 50hz and adjusted the gain to achieve an invisible integration where you literally cannot image where the Totems end and the subs begin.
Hopefully I will find a place where both can coexist as I love my 2.5's in the right room, however the Totems are really incredible and put me in that happy place we all strive for.
All the best,
Big Jim

Even with a 18'x18' room I feel it's not enough. Ideally I'd love to have a 20'x30' room for my MG20s but that's not going to happen unless I convert my garage which is a gorgeous 30'x40'ish area. Hell if I had it my way I'd gut it and turn it into a dynamite HT room. Doable but not practical. As it stands now I've been listening to MMGs in the 18x18 room and to be honest I could live with these; I don't even miss my 20's and tubes (both disconnected). I'm going to reconnect them probably this weekend, mess around with placement and then assess whether it's time to make some changes.

Not sure if Kevin still posts, but if I recall correctly, he had a room something like 30'x40'. Can only imagine how his system sounded with the room to fully breathe and exhale.
While the Totems create a wonderfully life sized soundstage that is holigraphic, they're limited to about 103db at peaks per their literature. The Maggie's obviously can go into 120's. That said, I typically listen around 90db with peaks under 100hz.

30 x 40 shop!? My dream!
I do think my 17 x 24' room is ideal for 3 series, and can support larger. The OP's could maybe work with .7's? Even that though, a monopole is definitely called for in that small room IMO.
It's a 3 car garage and two are used within it but I'd have to buy or build a shed to store whats currently stored in it. My wife is a pack rat and rarely throws anything away. I have my share of boxes and footlockers full of stuff as well. I WAS going to buy a storage shed for her stuff but then I got to thinking; hmmm what happens when the shed gets full and other things start piling up....so I ditched that idea knowing it will wind up in the garage. Plus she collects clothing and other items for Burmese refugees that arrive in the community. I knew this going in so I can't say I blame her.Side note- funny thing is out here garages are often converted into studio apartments or even full size apartments and can demand anywhere from $600-$1300 month. That's not necessarily anything I'd want to do, I'm in no hurry to become a landlord in this economy.
Basements in California are rare. There's a common misconception that this is due to potential earthquakes; that isn't true ; and unfortunately it's a shame since that would open up a lot room for HT and/or storage. Oh well, 1st world problems as usual...

Yep, I wouldn't be in a rush to rent a space out unless finances tell you to do so.
Basements here in older houses like mine are very common, but as most people don't like them, they only happen on new builds with sloped properties.
Getting extra storage would backfire for sure, not the best plan IMO. My mom was a pack rat, my dad the opposite. My wife and I are both purgers (with extra stuff, not bulimia). My FIL however takes the cake. He has 5 acres (plus the bottom right house with all the other junk on it where his son/my BIL lives). His house is on the left of the main property, the rest is a workshop, trailers.. all filled with "stuff". And he keeps buying stuff. In vehicles alone I think he has at least 6-7; 66 Tbird, 59 hardtop vert Galaxie, Eclipse vert, Crossfire vert, 2 pickups, dune buggy, sled, trike, forklift, trail bike... We'll need some serious help when he passes this misfortune on.
Tow trucks and dumpsters can get it down to manageable size pretty quick. My Dad was neat and organized but saved everything. I found the receipt for his 64 Chevy, you never know when you might need that even though it was sold in 67, lol.
Look at the scale. I agree, but the building in the middle is a very large 2-3 car garage. To the right is a lean-to about 20' wide x 30' deep (where storage starts to pile up), next to that are two 40' semi-truck trailers (stand beside one and think of the magnitude of this), then a 30' semi-truck trailer, all completely full of stuff/junk. Then all the old vehicles, etc. out in the yard, tires...
We're talking a LOT of stuff, a lot of trips, dump trucks, dumpsters.
I would find an old government or commercial building to turn into a living unit with a large room for my Maggie's.

Huge open space would be a great thing for Maggie's, never mind just "living".
Looks like a nice setup, enjoy what you have! Looks like a pretty small room for full size Maggie's...
Grant, so true, at times the 2.5's sounded wonderful in the small room, most times just really good. Surprisingly, the Totem Arro's sound bigger and make the walls disappear into a holographic soundstage. The clarity, detail and air is there as well. The highs are a bit tight, but that will go away once they get some hours on them.
I love my Maggie's and at some point will go back into service when and if I move into a bigger domicile.

Funny, I ran Totem Hawks (the bigger brothers of the Arros) for 17 years before I got my Acoustats. I still have them and sometime substitute them into the system. They sound absolutely PUNY compared to the Acoustats in the same room. Surprised that your Arro,s sound bigger than the Maggies in your room.
Its all good as long as you are enjoying!
Hi Mendel:
It truly comes down to the room size. My current listening room is only 8'x10'. I doubt the Arro's would sound the same in a room day 12'x16' as was my prior room. I'm using a pair of subs that also create energy.
