Return to Planar Speaker Asylum
73.139.76.161
Does the Cardas approach work with planars? In my 12.5' x 22' room with 9 foot ceilings, Cardas recommends speaker placement of 5.5' off the back wall and 3.5 feet off the side walls, which puts the speakers only 5.5' apart. All measurements are to the center of the speaker.
Follow Ups:
I would give them 5' or more from the front wall and move them closer to the side walls.Dipoles do not radiate to the sides as much as box speakers. How far is the seat from the axis of the speakers? I believe Magnepan suggests an equilateral triangle.
I married the perfect woman. The downside is everything that goes wrong is my fault.
Right now, the speakers are 5'6" from the back wall and 3'5" from each side wall (all measurements to center of speaker). The listening chair is placed in the far left corner (from the speaker's perspective). The sound is surprisingly open and of course excels at something like Norah Jones.
The good thing is they sound good with Norah Jones; the bad thing is you are listening to Norah Jones :). Not my favorite - everything sounds the same.

You are correct, but have you heard her duet with Bonnie Raitt?
