"I had a second hearing test with the ENT Doc this time ($140), and was hoping to resolve why I can hear 20% better in the higher freq when I hold my nose and clear, equalising pressure (as on an aeroplane method)."
What did he say it was due to? I've noticed a similar phenomenon -- it's very much like the restoration of high frequency hearing that I experience when I open the eustachian tubes on a flight, but less pronounced. Is it just that the barometric pressure has changed but hasn't equalized on its own?
Follow Ups:
Hey Josh,
She gave me a winding convoluted 4-5 minute theory , and asked if that made sense ... "Yeah, I guess" ? further then speaking of TMJ and operations, I interjected with , "No to surgery" !
She was really trying to be helpful , holding her nose as I showed her my procedure , and said she too can hear better doing so.
- Although I received an over the counter RX for Flownex(sp?) , two sprays per day and I can feel the eustachian tube drip/drain tickling the inner ear , so there is that in her opinion .
I think I'll get a second opinion as I don't believe I was fully understood.
Mine both are worse than she understood - The previous Hearing Test when they measure the movement of the drum by air pressure , I actually teared up in one eye from the discomfort and choking tickling at the bottom of that eustachian tube . Very weird endurance test to complete that ears test without wanting to swallow and clear the throat, which you should not do til the end of the test .
In any event, I may try a swimmers nose clip , picture this : Sits dow to do some meditative , immersive , concentrated listening , adjusts neon colored nose clip , and select play ;')
We're not doing any damage doing so, even repetitively nose hold and blow to clear the hearing procedure . I've asked several doctors now .
So, in answer for you , perhaps something to do with allergies .
I asked if the "Flonase" would help, and I was told, "It might".
Hope this helps .
-Will
Thanks, Will. I suspect you're right -- I do have allergies. And when I open my eustachian tubes it seems like they're draining since I hear a click and end up with goo in my throat. In fact I just did it and the air cleaner got louder . . .
