Not another war movie, but it is good. Not that I would pay to see another war movie and not that I would pay to see such a war movie, but is is certainly watchable for a topic that I've had enough of. Much better than the other recent war movies by far. Apocalypse Now, I would pay to see, however.

The horrors come across great, as does the mud.
Otherwise, it's the same old story (a fight for love and glory?) that's
now nearly 100 years old.
In telling this tale to new generations, the visuals are key.
The acting was OK. It was a more engaging film than we thought possible.

So each one is a treasure.
Most "war" films are centered around visual effects. Which never works for me.
Same for horror... all those knives and axes do nothing for me... the most bone chilling horror in a film that I remember is that open door shadow in "M".
