I'm driving over to take a look at it tomorrow, likely picking it up next week. Seems a shame but I'll have to put on the winter wheels for April - either that or stay in the driveway until late morning. I think I'll let the dealer keep the new wheels and tires as I love the 2018 19" rims and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires are just scrubbed in.

Let the dealer KEEP the new wheels?
You must have got one HECK of a deal to leave 2500$ on the table.....

.
No choice.
In Europe you get the choice between the ZF 8speed autobox, a 7speed dual clutch semi auto or a 6speed manual.
On the other hand you are limited to the 3L, 350bhp, 516 lbf-ft diesel.
4.2L V8 6sp manual. Just 70K miles on that baby.
70k?
We'd call that 'barely run in'. ;)
I pamper it. It feels new, and runs like a champ. It is my bicycle car, with the trunk rack, so I mostly just use it twice a week, as I know there is no replacement.

...I just wanna know? 6.2L gas V-8, 4WD with fully-locking differentials for the Cleveland snow. Tows a horse trailer and/or car trailer--it must be a total POS?

And in reality, I don't think the Suburban is an SUV. It's a station wagon body on a truck frame, and Chevrolet has been making them since something like 1950. The Suburban has always been in a class of its own.
"Dumbass SUV" is when a car maker takes a perfectly good sedan, gives it 4 inches of superfluous ground clearance, slaps on a taller, uglier body and an extra 500 pounds of road-hugging weight and sells it at a ridiculous price. Make a car worse, sell it for mo' money.
The Audi variety would be the Q6 or Q7 or whatever they call their badge-engineered Volkswagen.

If you actually NEED IT? Have at.
But with my viewing what other people drive as I go to lunch or down to the beach? MANY drive stuff they simply do NOT need. Want? Yes. Need? No. Why the heck would I want an 80,000$ Cowboy Cadillac?
A single mom in her SUV? Waste of gas. 700hp Dodge 'something'? Waste of natural resources.
Skipping the 'towing' for now, is there ANYTHING else with the snow perforance you need? I don't see needing to tow a heavy trailer in snow.....But maybe that's just ME......
When I was back EAST years ago. I saw many Subaru and very few Mercs or BMWs......And I don't think I saw a single Porsche.....
A paradigm shift is in the works.
Too much is never enough
I would agree, if I knew each persons individual needs. They knew what the gas mileage was when they purchased their vehicles.
Now when I watch those shows on motortrend channel, and see people spending half a mil on customizing an old car, or spending hundreds of thousands or millions for a fancy toy I always wonder how many people could be fed or housed with that money.
But it's a free country, though the decadence and thoughtlessness alarms me.
Freedom but little responsibility......And it starts right at the TOP.....

Her Honda Pilot got totalled, she asked me what she should replace it with.
Single mom, one kid, shared custody with her ex husband.
Get a Corolla, said I, and forgot about those dumbass SUVs.
Of course, she got a RAV4.
She never drives in snow. She's got one kid, but only for a week at a time.
So buy the larger, heavier, less efficient, more expensive to maintain version of the Corolla and spend 20% more to get it.
SMH.

I actually do NOT know how good the 4WD systems of most Japanese cars Are.....
I do know that if I was concerned with that ability? A used ....what was it? FJ Cruiser? Supposed to have a VERY good system
that being said? I put cables on the front of my '84 Honda Accord and was UNSTOPPABLE on roads up in Mammoth......Ski Season, you know....
And for the non-SUV types? I read / saw a review of the MAZDA system and they loved it.....but I have no further information.

...they still can't go off road. Too many unprotected breakable parts.
I question the need for AWD in most of the US, and I get the feeling that many, if not most, of the folks whoget connedbuy run-of-the-mill SUVs don't even know if the vehicle is equipped with AWD. There are many popular small SUVs that aren't even available with AWD.
I switch over to Winter tires every November, switch back to high performance all-seasons in April.
But even driving small FWD cars with all-season tires all year, I've never been stuck in snow.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Off-Road is NOT the issue. Safety in SNOW just might be.
Some places sell huge numbers of AWD vehicles, aimed at family / safety / snowy roads......
My brother was looking for a new car. I touted him onto the Honda CRV. Well equipped and gets good press.
BUT? Where he lived, you could NOT buy a new FWD from the dealer. They get only a few per year the remainder are AWD.
Some locations have Lots of off road. But they are graded / and what I'd call 'semi-improved'. Like in rural (most of state) New Hampshire. I saw many 'gated' roads. People living on those roads had a LOT of Subaru and a snowmobile. I'm not sure of the custom but it would seem that a grocery run consisted of snowmobile to gate and car to/from shopping.
Here in SoCal? LOTS of real off road. The road rom basically Georgetown to Lake Tahoe? Old stage route and your REAL prepared vehicle better include a WINCH.
Is there a need for AWD? sure. But most of 'em around here? A waste, like you'll agree, and in addition? A Maintenance nightmare.
I'd take it on a case-by-case basis. Big Bear? Gotta have it. Boise Idaho? Not so much...unless you live up the hill in one of the 'falls'......Idaho, Twin or American.......
Not needed in the Banana Belt areas but a YES in the north of the state.......
Too much is never enough
Roads are cleared quickly. Any snowfall bad enough to stop traffic stops all traffic and AWD is of no use at all.
Front drive with good tires, get you through the worst Pittsburgh has to offer.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
I lived in a small 'village' South of Chicago up to about '69 or so......
We had a MAJOR blizzrd one year. Like 3 feet virtually overnite.
All village plows broke down. No roads were plowed Drugs came into town by Helicopter than delivered by snowmobile.
We had 'lumps' of snow in front of our house that turned out to be abandoned cars. One guy went by on a motorcycle (like a 90cc Honda size bike) where the front wheel had been replaced by a SKI and the back wheel replaced by a tread. It worked.
Snow Day! No School! At least the power stayed on!
Too much is never enough
Nothing was moving while the storm was in progress, but my ex-wife made it to work the next night with no issues.
In her '92 Escort wagon. With bad tires.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
...if you ordered it and it actually arrived (against all odds) and doesn't smell like smoke and sea-water, go get it ASAP! As for the wheels/tires--you're paying for them, because that's what's on it--keep them. If you've got a spare set with different tires that you like better for the current weather, have them mounted and keep the new ones too.

Technically the dealer owns the wheels on the 2018. I'm guessing - I'll see today - that the 2022 has Sport Contact 6s on it, and the new graphite grey wheels. My 2018 has the Pilot 4s with about 3000 kilometers and nicer wheels on it. I'm guessing that the dealer would be happy with the new wheels and tires with the trade in.
I just replaced the OEM Sport Contact 6's on my A4 with Pilot Sport 4s's. Worlds better tire, SO much quieter. I'd at least try to keep them.
They are selling my 2018 as certified (80,000 km.!) and the wheels are tied into the VIN. Actually the new wheels looked better than I expected them to.
Don't know about in Canada, but you can lose substantial trade-in value when you don't have year-appropriate OEM wheels on a car in the U.S. It's kind of a quiet thing, like almost everything behind the scenes with car dealers. But when they're not "eyeballing" a car to ascribe a value and are going strictly by a system, that's what happens. Regardless of how good/desirable your aftermarket wheels are.
I would have thought the newer OEM wheels would enhance a used car's value - but to be certified you need the correct wheels.
They had been my go to summer tire for many years.
Short life, unfortunately. 12K miles if you are lucky.
I thought you were joking about your new Audi being on the burning ship or not .................
Enjoy.
I like Audi design as a rule.

thanks for sharing some joy. I grew up crazy for cars, and being a teenager during the muscle car years only fanned the flames. Back when gas was cheap, watching the gas gauge get sucked down every time you hit the gas pedal was always good for a laugh.
Luckily for me, I bought myself a car as soon as I could legally drive, but couldn't afford the desired hot rod tire burners I wanted. I could afford a little sports car, which turned out to be a classic design, an MG "A" forever changing my direction away from tire burning big power into overall design excellence and the driving experience.
I soon discovered all I really need in a car is for the top to go down, with a secondary emphasis on fit and efficiency. A pleasant body style is nice, but not a deal breaker. I once had a car that people would cross the street just to tell me how ugly my car was, a French car, designed by an Italian, inspired by a wood duck.
2CVs are not.
