A confrontation, no question.
I get the gun law. We have similar here, but the streets are far different from the hunting woods. Sure, a kid should be allowed to take a hunting rifle or shotgun to the woods, especially with adult supervision. I did it regularly with my grandfather, but we didn't take our hunting guns to town.
Follow Ups:
...or anything similar. I own a bunch of guns, and I hunt, but there is only one thing you hunt with an assault-rifle, and it's not deer, waterfowl, or small-game.
"So I talk to the night, I head for the light, try and hold it on the road. Thank God for the man who put
the white lines on the highway"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
He left his group to put out a fire. The cops wouldn't let him back to his group so he ended up stuck with the rioters when a lunatic chased and attacked him.
He wouldn't have been there if rioters hadn't been committing arson and massive property destruction. This never would've happened if law enforcement had been allowed to do its job. This happened because the adults failed to fulfill their responsibilities.
You got one thing right. The adult responsible for his care should have never let him go.
His mom didn't know where he was, somebody made that up. He spent lots of time in Kenosha, his father and several other friends and relatives live there. He also worked there.
Did you say something about a hunting intent in the gun law and didn't I say something about guns in the woods vs. in town? So, are you saying his father should've known rather than his mother?
He didn't break any laws and parents don't know exactly where 17 year olds are every minute.
He wasn't hunting.
you're fixating on a peripheral detail because the facts aren't what you want them to be.
No. I'm looking forward. You mentioned the exception in the law that would allow teens to hunt. He didn't violate that law even though he wasn't hunting. Maybe the relevant lawmakers need to revisit the law to make it consistent with their intent.
People need to not riot. If they do, the police need to arrest them. Psychotic child rapists need to be in jail. Without any of these three things there'd have been no shooting. The guys with guns were there because the authorities neglected their duties. They weren't the problem. It was a preview of how great it'd be if the police were abolished.
I don't think it's safe to allow 17yr olds toting guns in crowds, in the streets, etc.
I realize you've dehumanized the first victim. Nothing left to do but kill'em once you've dehumanized'em. That's what Chauvin did that started all the riots in the first place.
It's also not appropriate for 17yr olds to arm themselves and engage in such a situation regardless as to whether officials did their jobs. Adults responsible for his care should've kept him away. That's my perspective as a parent/grandparent.
It's not safe and it shouldn't happen. It was the unfortunate result of a bunch of other things that shouldn't have happened. Once those other things have been allowed to happen this sort of thing becomes necessary.
No. It's not necessary for a kid. The kid at issue has already said he wished he hadn't gone to Kenosha which tells me he's learned something from all this. Hard lesson and lucky to be alive.
and at 17? That's not right either. I don't own a gun and I'm not familiar with laws in different states - is it federalized? If it is then toughen it up like, to age 21 after training and a diploma that's certified as satisfactory.
State law that allows minors of certain age to possess a long gun. The idea or theory behind it is to allow young people to hunt. Nothing wrong with that, imo. But, if that was the intent behind WI law, lawmakers obviously left a loophole.
