I can cook and I'm pretty damned good at it, but I'm not a pork chops/beef stew/baked chicken kinda guy.
I like to cook things like picadillo. My wife likes pork chops/beef stew/baked chicken.
I took over the cooking duties when I retired. That lasted about a week before I was banished from the kitchen.
Another thing is, she's a slave to the recipe. Whatever the recipe says, she does. IMO, the recipe is a guideline. Fer instance, the recipe she found for shrimp carbonara. It's ass backwards and there's no way you can make it without scrambling the eggs. When she makes it, she's always apologizing for scrambling the eggs, but when I told her the recipe was wrong, she got skeptical.
At least she likes my chicken adobo.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Follow Ups:
Do you put raisins in your picadillo?
I enjoy picadillo, but I've never been able to bring myself to putting raisins in it.
Another recipe you might enjoy is Taco Rice. The Mrs. doesn't care much for spicy, so the kid and I wait until she away at her Fortress of Solitude to make it.
Yummy pic!
If I was making it for just myself though, I'd try them.
Mrs. Ghost doesn't like spicy either. I do, she doesn't.
One of the reasons why I was banished from cooking dinner.
