The top four teams are chosen based on a lot of subjective means that don't have much to do with what goes on in actual games.
Few years back, Penn State beat OSU, won the Big Ten, but OSU went to the playoffs. So did Clemson the same year despite losing at home to Pitt.
Reputation means a lot. Not losing late means a lot. It shouldn't, but it does.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?

Somebody on the committee has to have a laptop and enter into some formula that OSU was 5-0 against teams collectively 6-12 before the game.
But really who Cares? It's 2020 of The Common Era.

Second place in the AFC North, and the Raiders lost.
