I suspect that the four state area of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska hasn't reached the apex as of yet. The number of meat processing plants that have been hot spots is depressing. The rather cavalier attitude of a majority of residents towards masks has to be seen to be believed.Throw in the interstate highways like I-29, I-35, I-70,and I-80 that link the few major cities and meat processing plants and it looks like there will be a holiday for the corona virus real soon. I've got beer, bourbon, food, and with a couple tanks of propane for the grill,I can stay away from the liquor store and the supermarket for at least three weeks.
Follow Ups:
Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska are on an upward trend. Missouri looks like it's past the peak of the first wave, at least in the St. Louis area. I'm not sure about the KC area.
I really don't understand the aversion to wearing masks. I don't get that at all.
I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I went to a butcher shop/upscale food market to pick up a pork butt. Literally everyone was wearing a mask, I didn't see anybody handling all the fresh produce to find the perfect one, and people were keeping their distance even though the store layout makes that difficult in spots. On the other hand, a majority were not wearing gloves or sanitizing their hands at the entrance.
But it's better than the experience I had at Home Depot a couple weeks ago. Only two out of the two dozen or so employees I saw were wearing a face covering. About half of the female customers were wearing them, but very few of the male customers were.
gloves at the door and customers have (or maybe had) the option of wearing them.
These are markets that offer everything though produce is the main draw.
Also here NO MASK/NO SALE or NO ENTRY, etc.
That is ALL stores, all business'.
So, you don't want to participate in order to buy food, don't.
Apparently, there are OTHER ways to die from NOT wearing a mask.
