Book on Japanese Anti-Submarine aero units of WW2, is due out early next year. Promises to ably cover this obscure topic.8^)

Given that ASW was not something the IJN& air or IJA-air got any good at.
Too little, too late. Defensive warfare Vs attacking for the 'decisive' battle.

Interesting cover art!
The aircraft appears to be a Luftwaffe (German) Junkers JU 88 (A4?) in Japanese livery. Makes me wonder just how many of these did Japan procure from Germany?
Cheers,

Wikipedia. "Kyūshū closely patterned the Kyūshū Q1W Tokai ("Eastern Sea", Allied codename "Lorna") antisubmarine patrol/fleet escort aircraft after the Ju 88.[citation needed]"

Has brief description of the Kyushu "Lorna." Claiming it had a rudimentary Magnetic Anomaly Device (MAD) onboard. Though other books claimed eyeball detection of subs was only used.
Interestingly, the Q1W1-K was an all wood design. Hope this new book clears up some of these issues.

That's it! "Lorna." Used for ASW role. Much smaller than the Ju-88.
Much has been written about Catalina and B-24's ASW role with the USN. Very little, that I know of, about IJN role or success. Be interesting to see how this book turns out.
Also, new book on IJN and IJA airplane engine designs. Esoteric. But, does correct many false notions of where Japanese industries got their aero motor concepts and designs.
I told you esoteric.
