per charge that will take about 9 minutes to complete, which is a shorter time than drinking an espresso at Starbucks. Thanks to its new battery technology that uses graphene supercapacitors, unlike its competitors, which use the more traditional lithium-ion batteries to power theirs.
What's not to like, if only I can afford it.

Follow Ups:
Battery or SuperCapacitor......whatever....
Is still under wraps / development.
Initial cars will be delivered with a Lion battery just like all the others.
Too much is never enough
Do they exist across the country and are they available for the home? That's a lot of juice to pump into a battery in 9-minutes and probably unheard of in any existing electric vehicle charger.
Any more detail available on the 9-minute charger?
I'm sorry, but I cannot be seen driving a car called a Fisker. That's just nuts.
You can have mine.
According to Car and Driver (see the link), it will cost around $130k. Which is a lot of money for a car.
I wish Mr. Fisker every success in this venture. But until an actual production model is available for third-party testing, it's just vaporware.

with its main competitor the Tesla X model, which uses the Lithium-ion battery that has a range of under 300 miles per charge. The Fisker Emotion car was designed to basically compete with other electric cars out there that will cost an upward of $100K.

We have a cab company in town using Tesla cars. Supposedly they charge very similar to regular cabs, no idea how.
Perhaps, the Tesla owner is employed by Uber.

I happen to think that any car that costs more than about $75k is absurdly overpriced, but the marketplace clearly demonstrates that some others disagree. So if that's the pool that Fisker wants to swim in, then God bless him. Nevertheless, I won't get too excited about this project until production models are rolling off the line.
Happy listening,

But it's always exciting to know when a new technology is put into practice. If it is successful in the marketplace there's always a chance that this kind of technology will be trickled down to the masses.

as it provides a little bit of clarity to the quasi-technical jumble of concept words invoked in the original post.To wit, sez C&D's blog:
"Fisker claims that the EMotion will have a 400-mile electric range and will be able to reach 161 mph. The company also says its UltraCharger will be able to provide the car with 100 miles of range in just nine minutes. The EMotion will be based on a lightweight carbon and aluminum structure and will utilize supercapacitors and graphene battery technology that Henrik Fisker characterizes as a "major breakthrough.""
So: 100 miles of juice in 9 minutes.
Supercapacitors AND graphene batteries.Having had a 100 uF @ 100V bypass cap let go & eviscerate itself in my 2A3 amp last week, I am not looking forward to what supercapacitors'll do when something goes a wee bit awry. ;-)
As a snarky aside: There certainly seems to be an inverse correlation between the use of words like "breakthrough" and "technology" in the modern era with actual content . The best thing I can say is that I didn't espy the word "transformational" attributed to Mr. Fisker.
all the best,

One of the Nichicon BPUH 220 uf 25V capacitors (there are 8 of them 4 per channel) on my Krell Evolution 402 power amp came loose and broke off. I ordered it from Krell and it cost me $12 for the cap and $26 for shipment. I was glad that I only had to replaced 1 cap not 8 of them otherwise I would have asked the bank for a second mortgage.
Regarding the supercapacitors battery new technology development, it is nice to know that somebody has finally put it into use. Whether it's going to be a successful business or not only time will tell for sure.

Vaporware. I wonder if the car shown is even a real car, or just a mock-up.Why would I want to spend 9 minutes charging up, just so I can go another 100 miles? Heck, I can fill up my gas tank in less than 9 minutes, and go another 350 miles. And, where exactly are those "400 mile" chargers? Haven't seen one on any interstate highways recently, although this would be a cool new business concept: Get a full charge while you get 4 lap dances ('course, not when the wife is along).
Edit: Question: How many kilowatt-hours of electricity does it take to get a full charge? (For it or any other electric vehicle? That stat seems to be largely missing from electric car advertising.)
The car sounds to me like another tax write-off to help fund gala events and parties.
