I know it sounds corny, but I love my wife. And before that I was immediately drawn to her and attracted to her and then liked her a lot, etc.
That doesn't make me see her as perfect, and because we're both tightly wound we are occasionally at each other's throats (figuratively speaking only), but we cannot imagine a life apart. We enjoy each other's company immensely.
We ended up together because my heart leaped in my chest the very moment I saw her and then we were friends for a couple of years before she approached me and surprised me by telling me SHE had a crush on ME! Dang, imagine that. Dating and getting married followed so naturally.
I think you, and your friend, complicate things way too much. Women are just people, and we're all messed up in different ways, but love certainly makes things pretty good!
And now today's "Deep Thought" by Jack Handey:
"Love is not something that you can put chains on and throw into a lake. That's called Houdini. Love is liking someone a lot."
___
"If you are the owner of a new stereophonic system, this record will play with even more brilliant true-to-life fidelity. In short, you can purchase this record with no fear of its becoming obsolete in the future."
Follow Ups:
Not corny but heartwarming to hear about True Love. My wife and I have passed 50 years together so we understand the ups and downs.
Cheers
Bill
Best thing I've read all week. I'm happy for you, Josh.
I hope to find that one day.
Tried twice.
Failed twice.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
My wife and I recently were discussing the fact that almost half of our friends are divorced or remarried, which seems about inline with the national average. I'm her second husband, and my parents divorced when I was 16.
We have rough times, but have always felt we're part of a greater whole, which is pretty cool.
My message was more to those who cannot even initiate a healthy relationship with women. Bullethead has expressed distrust of women as a whole and his friend seems to view them as objects. Those attitudes will never get anyone anywhere.
I hope you find the right one. I have happy attached friends who decided never to marry and maybe that takes some of the pressure off of them?
