Thanks, man!I'm in the north Dallas area. Been to n'awlins a few times, years ago. Had the most awesomest Reuben sandwich at a little restaurant near the Royal Orleans hotel. And, that was my first introduction to the amazing magnolia trees! Was surprised to find that Preservation Hall is a little hole-in-the-wall place - and it was packed. I stood outside the doorway.
Thanks for the insight about crab. Crawfish, on the other hand, you can have my share, especially when they're fully intact.
Edit: Back in 2015, on a flight from Oakland, CA, I was seated next to a guy from New Orleans. He was a rap/jazz musician who goes by the name Magnolia Chop, and was born/raised in the Magnolia "projects". So, here I am, this average white guy, next to this big sunglass and necklace-wearing black guy. We started talking, and that's how I got to know what he does, etc. Really really nice guy. Look him up if you're into that kind of music. Now that I'm thinking about it, I gotta go over to his rehearsal studio here in Dallas and say hi.
:)

Ive spent a lot of time at the Royal Orlean (rib room), and the little bar on the side that looks out on the street. We used to go there on Friday afternoons after work. You can sit at the bar, drink beer, eat free peanuts, throw the shells on the floor and watch tourists and women.
I've spent some time in Dallas. My wife has relatives there, but most of my time in Texas has been in Houston. They know how to do beef BBQ for sure. They have great TexMex as well.
Corpus Christy has some real Mexican food, but I actually prefer the Americanized version.
You're welcome at our house anytime. Just be aware, most of what I cook, I made up.
:)
