Not long ago they started Sunday deliveries here via the USPS. I would see the USPS person driving around not delivering regular mail on Sunday but small boxes to me and a couple neighbors. Amazing.
Follow Ups:
I can shed a tiny bit of light on this subject. There are of course standards which must be met. I was averaging around 59 finished boxes per hour. Since there was approximately 50 of us doing single packaging that would be around 3000 single pkgs per hour around the clock. That's just the physical part of the job. You have then what was alluded to earlier in terms of demographic matrices and all that other stuff which I am not smart enough to understand except to know that it works.
The sunday delivery started here about 6 months ago and combine that with prime membership you can offer the public a very attractive reason to not buy from you local B&M store,
Amazon is building a large distribution warehouse in Aurora Colorado. That part of the city is close to a major freeway and the airport. There are many warehouses and loading docks in that part of town.
I also saw a report that they will open another technical center near Boulder, CO. Linked-In is showing 68 job openings there for software development engineers, systems engineers, systems administrators, network engineers, etc.

I live about 15-miles S.W. (as the crow flys) from Buckley AFB in Aurora. I visit Buckley AFB & ADF-C all the time.
Buckley/Dartmouth...Parker Road/I-225....how about this---when we moved to the house at Mississippi/Havana area there was nothing east of Peoria---just fields :)
