Hi everyone!
I'm close to retirement and thinking about buying a GSD as my retirement present.
I have read pretty much everything about this breed and I'm aware about its special needs and care.
I have checked several online breeders and is kind of difficult to find an honest and ethical breeder. On top of that several GSD clubs offer no help about recommending breeders.
Anyone here that could suggest/recommend an ethical breeder?
I'm willing to spend upto $3000 for an 8 week old puppy.
Thanks,
Dan

IF your absolutely set on a Shepherd and want impeccable blood lines, contact the Monks of Saint Skete.
You must be willing to wait.
Outstanding breeders and outstanding shepherds.
Best.
Both of our dogs were rescues, taken from the street, not an agency. They did present some challenges, but they were wonderful dogs, although very different.
If you don't want to take on an unknown challenge, and are willing to consider another breed of dogs, you could consider a rescue greyhound. Our daughter had one. They are extremely easy dogs to own and incredibly sweet and charming. There are many retired racers in need of a home, and there are agencies which will help you find one whose temperament and needs fits with yours. Our daughter's dog was a saint.

Friend of mine got a flunk out from local Police Academy. Sweet nice dog. Was trained in Dutch so not sure about attack stuff. But great FREE dog to loving home
Food for thought

Contact the American Kennel Club. They can refer you to reputable breeders in your area. Also look in the classified section of your newspaper and the Yellow Pages of your phone book. Yes, really.
Get certified copies of the parents' "papers" if you're going to spend that kind of money.
You cannot, rather - should not, buy an expensive and well-bred dog online.

so many good dogs at local shelters that need to be adopted.....and would be a lot cheaper than what you are willing to spend.
If so, I listed 2 GS recue agencies. I see you're in El Paso.
One is in Sedona AZ; the other in Houston. I'm sure there are others in the southwest.
Rescue units are usually good outfits to deal with; not looking for profits.

Adopt a rescue dog if you can. Some folks might doubt it, but a rescue dog knows that it's been rescued and will repay your kindness at least tenfold.
Cheers,
