Who were able to spend some time with him the year before he passed away. He came up to Alberta to experience the Rockies and take photos on them. He told me that visiting the Rockies was part of his bucket list to see.Neil49 and I went to pick him up early in the morning from where he's staying in Canmore, Alberta and gave him the tour of his life while visiting the Banff National Park range, Lake Louise, and Moraine Lake. Then we had dinner and had a few chitchat while enjoying some locally brewed ale.
He stayed the night at my place before he heads back home. He told us stories about his earlier life experience including the day when he met John Lee Hooker during his 15th birthday, which brought tears to his eyes. While we were listening to music in my listening room, he told us stories about the days when he was running his own business in Palo Alto from which where he met most of the musicians who used to hang around there. Such as Neil Young, CSN, Joan Baez to name just a few.
After spending some time with him I found Larry to be a genuine and very passionate at what he does. He does have a very big heart only if you're willing to touch it. But once you touch it he will never forget you.
I will surely miss him...

I must have missed it. I'm envious that you got to meet Larry. Thanks for sharing your memories!
Some times with him, because you really don't know anything about a man until you walk a mile with him. Besides photography, he also has a vast knowledge of folk and rock and roll musicians in the 60's and 70's era, especially Neil Young and Jerry Garcia, of which he had spent a fair amount of time with.According to him after moving to Oregon he donated his California acreage to California land development foundation to be used by the poor young adult as nature recreational facilities.

(Read that someplace...)Like FR I never knew him apart from here but did exchange emails with him.
Liked his take on life (apart from politics), love, music, pics, SF and... pets.
He was a good soul.

I guess between the two of us (meaning you and I) we liked him completely then. He and I also exchanged emails, and were on the same page regarding politics and the Second Amendment, in addition to the other topics you mentioned. And let's not forget Stevie Nicks' panties
I can't say I enjoyed his frequent bickering with Mkuller, but I suppose that's a choice they both made.
As you said, "He was a good soul"
He was a hard person to get to know underneath the usual know-it-all face that he always shows around here. But once you get to know him personally he's another person altogether, which was very caring and personable.
Once thing for certain he does love and very passionate about photography.
Here's Larry in his office during his pilgrimage to Banff National Park in 2015...
