between the bull and the fearless girl. I can't help but wonder why would the bull feel threatened as after all he's supposed to represent freedom in the world, peace, strength, power and love." The fearless girl, on the other hand, is a fitting embodiment of a girl who refuses to quit...

Follow Ups:
AFAIK.
Lets go for a compromise: When the Fortune 500 has 50% women CEO, CFO, and board members.. when the Fortune 500 pay Women the same salary as Men... Then the girl can find a new home.
That should only take what? Another 500 years????
I love it. The bull was getting old & needed freshening up .
Bet ya more tourists are taking pics. then ever before. More people coming to see it, the more revenue to locale business that feed on that activity.
Oh, & the little girl look so sassy.
and I have to agree that the more recent addition manages to disrupt or even create a new, ambiguous, context for the long-standing bull.
At least the little girl has the nerve to stand up against a bully!. These guys, on the other hand, are cowering behind and climbing atop the wooden post as if the bull is not aware of it. Hah! all I can say is now they're both equally screwed...

on top of that post. If that bull doesn't move on any time soon, the pole-sitter may feel he'd have been better off taking his chances with the bulls smaller, less intrusive bits.
has learned a valuable lesson from his last encounter with Balzac Billy the clown. Otherwise into the saddle factory he goes.

The girl is being interpreted as feminist and all good stuff.
Really, it is populist nonsense.
Eventually, some wack-o group will demand the BULL be removed, since it is male, aggressive and well......horny.
Too much is never enough
with ornery real bulls, the girl gets hurt unless she's near a fence she can scramble up.
I remember seeing a news story about the reason for the recent placement of the little girl statue, but I don't remember what it was. I think it was on CBS or Fox. (Sorry, I don't do Yahoo - I try to keep my computer as free of clutter as possible.)
:)
Fearless girl statue rational by placing it in front of the bull...The statue is a powerful symbol, but there is also substance behind it. Fearless Girl is part of State Street's campaign to pressure companies to add more women to their boards. The firm followed up the installation with a letter to the thousands of companies that can comprise the Russell 3000 index on Tuesday asking them to take action to increase the diversity on their boards. There is room for improvement: State Street says that roughly a quarter of the 3,500 companies it sent letters to have no women on their boards.
To me, an art is an art people are going to interpret it to however they want to whatever they want it to be...

Thanks. Now that I'm thinkin' on this... Isn't the bull outside the Merrill Lynch headquarters? The whole "bull/bear" thingy has been around in the finance world since the beginning of time. There's even a reversible "sock puppet" (I know someone who has one) which is a bull on one side and a bear on the other. "Bullish" represents a positive trend or outlook for the markets (aka a "bull market"), and "bearish" represents a negative trend or outlook (aka a "bear market").
I prefer my own animal analogy: The fox. It watches, it's cunning. It has a good sense of when to get in, and when to get out, whether the markets are generally bullish, or generally bearish.
I don't really care if a member of a Board is male, female, or uncertain. I just want them to make good decisions. But the whole idea of a company (a "Wall Street" company of all things!) to make a political statement with this statue is just plain stupid.
