When do we draw the line on what laws we break?
Yeah, sure!
We'd still be living under the thumb of the British aristocracy if we succumbed to that attitude back in 1776.

Lots of people seem to prefer using it doing what I call "keeping the world safe for democracy" by driving a few ks under the speed limit.
We do have a little bit of flexibility about speed limits, for overtaking! Useful for passing lines of trucks, mobile homes, and caravans. Esp. where a 2-lane 'HIGHWAY' has occasional passing lanes making it briefly a 3-lane hwy.
Bear in mind that Australia is a very big place, not much smaller in fact than the continental USA, mostly dry and hot with long distances and very few people about 1/10th yr pop'n.
So, our roads are mostly not anything like as good as yours are. Death-traps aka black spots are rife, even on 4-lane majors with the two directions separated by a lot of ground. Pollies promise fixes but the list is still long.
Why is that Timbo? Often these 4-laners re-use the old 1970s two-way for one of the directions. Bumpy, dippy and patched, and lots of puddles when wet. Aquaplaning is very common on these routes.
Viz. The route south into Canberra is one of these old roads, and it has more accidents than the newer North going route.
In fact the baby Land Rover that rolled after it passed me on its way to the Ski-ing fields, was on that road.
One reason why AWDs like Subarus are popular.
I find that using cruise control and planning a journey is acceptable.
I do like to have a go on back roads. Ones that rarely have coppers, rozzers, bulls, etc. out on them.
