no thanks. My days of content with commercials is over
ET
"If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking till you do suck seed" - Curly Howard 1936
We just DVR many of our favorite shows and when we play them back, we fast-forward thru the commercials.

That's what I watch that doesn't have commercial interruptions during the desired content.
The channels I used to love (Sy-Fy, Discovery, TLC, Speed) have all been destroyed by a combination of excessive commercials & "dumbing down" of the content. I mean - SyFy now features WWE Wrestling!?!?!?!? And TLC used to have some great documentary/educational stuff. Now? Conjoined teenage midget polygamists or whatever...
I hear you, I love it "Conjoined teenage midget polygamists"
television is in a downward spiral,
I was just watching CNBC they blamed the low jobs number 80% of it on the "weather", LOL! I don't even throw up anymore, I just laugh at this nonsense.
Commercials are more than half and hour for every hour, who really needs this crap!
....do they offer some sort of program guide in a grid-like format as do many cable and satellite providers, with the ability to easily DVR future programs?
That and a TV antenna for local broadcasts might be enough but....
As much as I like the idea of cutting the cable cord, they make it so easy to access EVERYTHING thru a single source with easy program navigation and recording. Heck, I can even speak into the remote control to summon a program w/o having to search the program guide. "Play Top Gear", "Record the History Channel". Hmm, can I give up that convenience?
I tried it, very cool system.it is too expensive as all I would watch is Fox Business and CNBC. Way too many commercials on regular mass media TV for my patience.
I prefer livenewschat.eu and it is free.
But hell if you like sports, sign up and they'll send you a note when it is available in your area and you can check it out for a month at no cost, I kept it for a day. Couldn't stand the politics and fake news.
edit as per your question, you just search and click what you want to do. pretty amazing.
