While there is certainly some truth in what you're saying, the overall picture is more complex than that. A large part of the problem has been the proliferation of equity firms that purchase otherwise viable companies for the purpose of artificially inflating their value for their own short term profit, but ultimately leading to their closure. The linked article by the CS Monitor takes a look at a case study of that process via a review of the book, "Glass House". It's eye-opening reading.

It's never simple but what worries me is the fact that the world of technology is looking to take the overall human contribution out of the equation as machines and robots are taking over all important aspects of our lives. The human body was made to work and this is why we have so many over weight people today.

And I'll bet you thought "The Terminator" was a work of fiction. There are probably a lot of things you and I disagree on, but one we can agree on is this topic. I am fearful for my daughter and young people in general. Where will they find meaningful employment in our future world? I hear people say they will train/retrain to fix those robots, but that's bullshit. A handful of welding robots replaces 50 or 100 humans on the spot welding station. Does anybody think it takes 50 or 100 humans to service those robots? Without jobs, where will people get money to buy the things those robots make? And if people aren't buying things, who needs all those robots? I have no idea where we're headed, but I don't like the direction of it at all.
The 15yo is smart - quick at maths, great with languages and science. I don't think we have any idea what their employment options will be outside of medical services like physical therapist or similar .......
