Due to winter storm, I worked from home for the first time in a long time the past 2 days. Wow I got so much work done, no one in my office asking for things just because they saw my face. I will have to find a better job that allows this all the time, it was much better on my constitution.
No, it is hell.
Clean running water.Amazing luxury.
Clean HOT and cold running water.. even better.
A flush toilet. No stink, no chamber pots, no streets full of human waste. Amazing.
No cholera and black plague
Heat in Winter, and cooling air in Summer.
Clean air not black and stinking with choking fits all day long from the fumes.. (except in China, but they will learn too.)
electricity. Light easy to on/off at night or anytime.
Cook food with ease.
Communications, instead of sending foot runners, or men on horseback to send you messages.
All of these things would have been a MIRACLE back in the Dark Ages. ('cept maybe the clean air, Plenty of that outside the towns)
I don't know if the dark ages were real. History tends to be rewritten many times, now with the amazon Kindle, so will books in the future.
I sometimes call people I know when I am at work for a chat, how do I even know they are real and not part of the company simulacron?
Let me put on my expensive tin foil hat and go away now.
Come on, your doing ok.
You have a house to live in, a stereo & a tin hat. Give me a *&%^#$HH$# break.
happy St Patty's.
sorry, I was sleep deprived and had too much to drink.
You were/are sleep deprived because you were/are drinking to much.
Intoxicated sleep is not good sleep. (but you know that, didn't you)
Tomorrow is another day, Sunday, so,--- take your car out for a drive out in the country. Oh waite, you live in NY City. How long will it take you to get out of the city? Ah, what ever it'll be worth it. Your battery will get a good charge.
Its Sunday, the new day of the week. Lets start it off with a positive attitude. Give me a YAAAA.
Not a bad thing at all, especially, today's "climate" (no pun) in most workplaces.
I had a coworker leave my US focused company to join a global company, he lives in Kansas City, managed to get married mid 40s, have a family works from home 99% of the time and makes quadruple the salary he made at my company with less stress and aggravation.
I'm looking into it. I agree there is a downside, if I play my cards right this will work out.
Check out the Pizzas before you do that.
So your saying, if you get a job where you can work from home all your dilutions will magically go away & you won't need a tin foil hat anymore?
Good luck with that.

I'll leave it at that.
How your kitty doing?
and to discourage him from licking it!!! We do that 2-3 times a day.
Looks like it will be fine by Monday AM when we head up to the Snowy Mountains for a few days, the wife doing day walks and short walks. I -might- do some short walks but am still too tired* to attempt day walks. * ? Side effects from the permanent seed radio-therapy, and lost sleep.
Taking a few good books.

I worked from home sporadically due to different reasons. I ran my laptop on the dining table and it was cool most times.
I had trouble with telecom meetings when invariably UPS or FedEx would pull up anywhere near my house and my dogs would go nuts. I would have to move to the back patio which can be either cold or hot depending and of course my laptop was then unavailable to me unless I waded back into the fracas.
I enjoyed many of my co-workers, discussing various things and going to lunch. I wouldn't have wanted to work from home constantly.
Too cold to sit on the deck, smoke a bowlful and defend against squirrels as they come to steal from the birds.
It is nice, isn't it? But as someone mentioned, mixing it up is the key. I used to work primarily from home, and every couple of weeks, I'd get a burning desire to get back to the office environment. As with everything, work from home has its pros and cons.
Glad you got a lot done!
How much snow did you guys get?
This is a public service announcement . . . WITH GUITARS!!!
Most of my work has to done at the office but I also had a pile that was doable from home, plopped myself in the recliner, 'puter on lap, and have been at it near non stop actually since Monday afternoon.
"E Burres Stigano?"
I did it for 25 years, was a very positive change for me.
Some of the most bored guys I knew were telecommuters. Never got out the house or apartment enough. Most people need the changeup of environments.
The trick is to mix it up just enough, but few get that option.
