More car manufacturers are moving production to various countries.
For example, BMW 3-Series that I have owned were always made in Germany. Our BMW X5 and X3 SUVs from a few years ago were made in the USA (South Carolina). My VW's from many years ago were made in Germany. Our Toyotas were made in Japan.
BMW is building a 3-Series manufacturing plant in Mexico to go into production in 2019. I believe Audi is also setting up shop in Mexico. I think some Volvo are made in China.
Regardless of brand, does the country where your car is manufactured have any influence on your purchasing decision? Maybe not P.C. but it does for me. How about you?
Your thoughts?

But something about a European luxury brand being built in Mexico or China rubs me the wrong way. It kind of kills the perceived prestige and pedigree of the brand IMHO. I wonder if the manufacturers have considered this? I don't want an Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, or BMW built in Mexico or China. I wonder if it's just me or if the typical buyer even cares? VW from Mexico, maybe.
If it's a car for daily driving from getting to point A to point B I won't mind if it's safe , efficient & reliable . But if it's my special / personal car , Yes I do mind. Would you buy a Ferrari if it's not made in Modena , Italy? I won't buy a Porsche 911 if it's not made in Germany ( back in 1997 some Boxster's were made in Finland) . That's why I'm into Classic & vintage cars , these car's were made in their country of origin . Would one buy a Challenger , Camaro ,Corvette & Mustang if it's not from the USA ? I certainly won't .

I guess I'd prefer Canada, I live here, but my cars were built where they were built, is what it is.
My best guesses to where my current vehicles were built:
'04 Corvette Z06; Bowling Green KY, USA?
'10 Grand Caravan; Windsor ON, Canada?
'07 Hyundai Tucson; Korea, China?

Can only see that on one of them when at work though. Always forget about this stuff when I'm at home.
I buy based on vehicle's merit.
S2000 (AP1) built at Tochigi facility in Japan alongside the NSX
Ridgeline in Lincoln AL
Boxster in Stuttgart
ST1300 in Japan
I always but made in USA Toyota or Honda sedans.

GMC= U.S.A.
My 2017 Sierra SLT was assembled in Mexico.
The S2000 was built at Suzuka plant, Japan. My Element was built at East Liberty, OH plant.
You can buy a CAT 966M wheel loader in just about every country in the world.
They are manufactured in 5 different plants - Aurora, Illinois, Brasil, Belgium, China, Japan. The Chinese ones do look a little Chinese - You can only tell by having a good look up close at the hand finishing of the cast steel parts. For some reason, the Chinese are a little rough.

911's aren't made anywhere else.
A couple years ago I was looking for a used MB C300 for my wife. A nearby dealer had two 2011 lease returns, one was exactly what we wanted and the other was brown with tan interior that we didn't care for. Both cars were marked with the same price.
The door jamb sticker on the car we wanted said Made in South Africa, the brown car said Made in Germany.
Remembering the VW Rabbits back in the day, the German ones with round headlights, and the American ones with rectangular headlights that didn't enjoy the same resale value as the German cars, I searched for anything significant between the two Mercedes and found nothing more than entries from original owners who were miffed after taking delivery of their new cars and seeing Made in South Africa in the door jamb.
We bought the South African car and it has been great.
Supposed to be pretty good.

...Enclave is assembled in Delta Twp, MI, Envision someplace in China. Don't know where Encore is assm.
South Korea and now China. Will switch 100% to China, 2018.
Japan by default.
I have had British, US, Italian, South African and German cars as well.
The Mazda has good reliability and is easy to maintain.

the Miata is a fun drive, anytime!
my Daewoo is made in Korea, branded as a Chevrolet Aveo.
I made certain of it when I bought it in 2009.
figured the GM USA workers were getting laid off at that time and didn't care if they missed a bolt.
I would like a Cadillac USA made in a decade or so, but that'll probably be my last car before I die. :)
My "German" 2006 BMW X3 was assembled in Austria by a contractor; some Beemer subassemblies, some from elsewhere. Impossible to sort out. I recently found that it has a GM transmission.
I do care. Based on my experience from the cars that I owned over the years, the ones that were made in Japan were definitely more reliable than the ones that were made in NA.

Mine is made in Bowling Green, Kentucky
.
They've been promising for years to provide a improve QC and provide a decent interior.
Test drove one and bought a Boxster hands down. Not even close in terms of refinement.
If I just needed a car for track day, however...
I wouldn't mind a Cayman S. ;-)
;-)
2nd choice, Korea.

Germany or Czech Republic.
So far all my automobiles have been made in the USA. All Ford.
However I have owed motorcycles, all of which had been made in Japan.
I would not hesitate to buy a German made automobile if I wanted one.
