The Allergists were in favor of scratching it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.
The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.
Meanwhile, Obstetricians felt certain everyone was laboring under a misconception, while the Ophthalmologists considered the idea shortsighted.
Pathologists yelled, "Over my dead body!" while the Pediatricians said, "Oh, grow up!"
The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the Radiologists could see right through it.
Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing and the Internists claimed it would indeed be a bitter pill to swallow.
The Plastic Surgeons opined that this proposal would "put a whole new face on the matter."
The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.
Anesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and those lofty Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.
In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to the assholes in Washington.
Follow Ups:
Don't know details of plan, but in last nites speech, Trump noted thaa the new plan would CROSS STATE LINES. This automatically increases the 'base' and was the one thing I KNEW that Obamacare did wrong, not to mention being 2500 pages or so long.
Too much is never enough
That appears to be a phony remedy.
I went to the AMA website seeking some information.
They have a study of insurance markets which I'd love to see. Even just the executive summary would tell me SomeThing. But no, it'd cost 150$ or 'free' if I were a member.
The AMA, which is a Non-Profit had 2014 revenues EXCEEDING 260,000,000$
SAYING it, one way or the other, doesn't make it so. I realize that. But I sure would like to try something new. State based 'Marketplace' doesnt' take (Full) advantage of economies of scale.
California, for example, has only about 1.5 million registered of a state population of just short of 40 million. That's <4% enrolled. Small states seem to suffer with few choices.

Is it true that some Canadians come to the USA for otherwise elective procedures?
My MIL just went to Mexico (she's a Mexican National) for an extensive heart procedure. It cost a FRACTION of the USA cost.
You woudn't send Charles Manson to a 'free' Mexican Hospital. I've visited and it is somewhere between Midieval and just awful. People go there to die.

Hahahahahahaha! That was funny!Well, except for the last line - kind of a weak ending. Try to come up with a better one.
Samra makes some excellent points, to which I'll add: I know a doctor who sold her practice and bought a restaurant! (Which reminds me, I haven't been there in months - gotta fix that.)

The true test, for which I have NO answer would be to ask Doctors if they would recommend that their CHILDREN also become Doctors?
Too much is never enough
I didn't write any of it, but here you go anyway:
Finally, the Proctologists said that only an 'asshole' would come up with a plan like that, and the Audiologists chimed in, that sounds about right!
I have many friends that are physicians and I have yet to find ONE of them that were in favor of Obamacare.The paper work alone on the staff is horrendous and getting patient procedures done has become a chore.Doctors have been quitting left and right and my internist sold his practice and works for the Veterans hospital because it got so bad that the staff wasn't prepared for all the changes.He moved to South Dakota and works at the Vets hospital in Iowa which is close to where he lives.
The ACA was not thought thru at all and it has caused a lot of businesses to hire only part time so whatever plan they come up with,they need to bring costs under control.I have very good insurance thru my job but it costs me more all the time.The Pharma lobbyists should have never written the ACA because it was nothing more than a windfall cash cow for insurance companies and Pharmaceutical companies.Insurance companies are now getting out because it no longer became profitable as they had hoped.

I am sure that the same friend was sooooo happy with amount of paperwork for other insurance companies. Sorry, but if your friend claims that ACA was reason to sell his practice, your friend is most likely a liar.
As much as part-time work after ACA enactment, you must be Fox News and Breitbart reader, i.e. completely removed from reality and facts. The story of increase in part time work is BS, and you could know that if you would bother to check the facts.
As much as companies not offering ACA as non-profitable, you probably refer to Cigna and Aetna. That was shown to have nothing to do with a cost but denial to merge. Again, little bit of reading skills and desire to know the facts opens up new horizons.
As much as insurance cost going up, see my post to Abe. Don't blame ACA, blame greedy Pharma, insurance companies, and doctors.

Well you are wrong sir and it wasn't just the paper work.They had to hire more staff just to handle the paper but the procedural codes were getting more difficult to process and he could no longer order tests that he needed to in many cases depending on the age of the patient.
As far as being Fox News which it isn't,keep in mind that Dems lost 930 additional seats in the last 8 years from congress to stathouses,mostly due to Obamacare.That law has been poison for Democrats.

But you are not only wrong but also full of BS.
1) For those who had insurance other than ACA nothing changed.
2) Those who got ACA either did not have an insurance before, or lost it, or chose to have ACA it as it is better than what they had. In any case, those patients are better of.
3) As for any insurance, what is covered varies from plan to plan. Even more, it varies from year to year for the same insurance plan. ACA does not complicates it or makes it easier. Thus it is no different that any insurance; doctor has to get approval for a procedure for each and every plan, ACA or not.
(Except that many preventive care items are covered now 100% with no deductible and no matter what insurance you have, which made it actually simpler, but that is inconsequential for big picture).
4) Procedure codes are standardized and have nothing to do with what insurance or company you have. No need to "learn" different codes for different insurances.
If your friend claimed what you said, he is a liar.
As much as losing the seats, you are right. Democrats lost because they did not effectively responded to lies spread by Faux news, et al, that were paid by "the people" (read corporations, and as it seems foreign government) targeting mostly uneducated.
You know, those who yell "repeal Obamacare" while receiving ACA subsidies,
those who claim being ripped of by liberal states while receiving 2 federal dollars per dollar given, mostly paid by liberal states,
those who want everyone to take care of himself while supporting "right to work" states where individuals benefit from union members work but not having to pay union dues,
those who are against a single payer health system but do not want "government" to touch their Medicare,
those who complain that there are no coal jobs any more, but for years did not move their buts to learn new skills and/or do not want to move to where jobs are (and still believe Danny boy that those jobs are coming back),
those who think that Donnie Boy saved 1000s of jobs at Carrier, while not realizing that it is paid by their taxes,
those supporting fixing government spending by reduction of "entitlements", read Social Security, medicare, etc., that we all paid in to all our working lives, while hailing increase in military spending,
those who cheered that conservative congress blocked Obama's infrastructure bill/loan when country needed it the most, and now cheer the same conservative congress and the president for proposing the same when we do not really need it,
those who waved Russian flags on Trumps rally not realizing whose flag they are waving...
I could go on way longer, but I made my point, at least until Rod does not delete the whole tread.

Even tho I get my insurance thru work,part of it comes out of my salary every two weeks and before the ACA,I was paying less for my daughter and myself than I was for just myself now. Some people it helped but the majority it didn't help.Many people lost their doctors and it became more difficult to be referred to a specialist.It also hurt employers from hiring many people full time just to skirt the cost of buying health insurance.
This is how good the ACA is.

And the Repubs will probably lose at least that many as result of their actions on healthcare. It will be poison for the repubs too.
Oh boy, probably not a good idea, but I'm chiming in. I have a small company and ACA was the only way my wife and I could get medical insurance. Prior to ACA we were turned down flat or had all pre-existing conditions excluded.
Have one friend that is a physician and his criticism of ACA is that he was being judged based on patient outcome - welcome to the real world. The physicians I have seen since ACA have all been supportive, going out of there way to accept ACA policies.
I understand for some people it has worked well but for most it hasn't. Look at the insurance companies that pulled out of it now.Doctors are leaving and they are no longer going into private practice as they once were.
What used to be a very lucrative profession is not so much anymore.AAMOF,Vets seem to do better as they don't deal with insurance.
I agree that something had to be done but the ACA was not thought thru very well at all. When Nancy Pelosi said we have to pass it to see what's in it,that tells me that politicians had little input.

"I have very good insurance thru my job but it costs me more all the time."
Ditto that. My portion to cover the premium spiked up substantially since the start of the ACA.
Sorry Abe but that BS argument. Cost of insurance is spiking year after year and has nothing to do with ACA. Cost of your insurance plan is related to how sick (cost) your insurance group is. ACA cost is unrelated to cost of your insurance plan. (unless you had so called "Cadilac" plan, which is highly unlikely).
I heard the same story from friend of mine who works for small company. Later he found out that his boss' wife got cancer prior year and that her treatment was very expensive. Next year, insurance doubled as the insurance company expected high cost due to her illness. Nothing to do with ACA.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane."
MY portion of the cost has been fairly steady and modest UNTIL ACA hit, then it spiked. I work for a rather large company of over 100,000 so I don't think a huge percentage of people suddenly got sicker to warrant that spike in cost.
NOTHING TO DO WITH ACA, as I have explained. Check with you HR how the prices are negotiated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane."
That you can get something for nothing. ACA has cost those who actually pay for healthcare trillions.
Which - at the expense of confusing the issue with facts is why the Supreme Court allowed it to stand because it is a tax to those who pay income tax.
Bingo!
I get that it did some good things but the consequence for most people far outweighed the good. There are people that the ACA has helped and I won't discredit the good parts of the law.The fact that there is no limit but for basic coverage,the deductibles are out of sight.
I have an excellent plan thru my job but I still pay part of my salary every 2 weeks. That's going up all the time.
