90% of the movies and TV shows on Netflix streaming are garbage. Netflix DVD has a far bigger catalogue but as above one can go days with no movies at home.
I tried Sling just to watch the College Bowl games on ESPN but there's nothing else there for me except Diners, Drive-ins but one can take just so much of the relentlessly 90s hipster.
I signed up for Prime today despite the free shipping not being the attraction it was when I was working and had extra income. Their movie catalogue looks thin and out of date. Hopefully I'll find a website that delves into what's really available. In 30 free days I can delight in the Top Gear sophomorons and see if the High Castle series is at least as good as the book. Then probably move on.
Follow Ups:
The Wire (best drama of all time? Maybe), The Americans, Justified (if anybuddy was ever born to play a role, Timothy Oliphant as Raylan Givens was), Downton Abbey, Curb Yer Enthusiasm, Veep, to name a few, are all excellent dramas and comedies. All done without the creativity constraints imposed by major networks. The dramas especially are good as, being multi season efforts, they take the time to develop the characters and stories instead of cramming it all into a 2 hour movie. The Wire, Downton Abbey, The Americans, Justified, and Orphan Black (especially its first 2 seasons) compete with the best one can see in the theater IMHO and you get them for years! ALtho I enjoyed The Man In The High Castle, I don't think its in the same league as the dramas I named.

That's partly because 95 percent of the movies ever made aren't worth watching even once.
I've watched "Easy Rider" seven times, "Casablanca" about ten. If I ever watch "2001" again, I'll fast forward through the "filler" sections, which will cut out about 25 minutes, thus helping to save the whales and the planet by reducing required bandwidth.
