The rest of the hardware is Shimano 105, one of the major features that attracted me to this bike (I've been riding a friend's aluminum Specialized with 105's, and really like 'em)!
I never thought that I would go carbon, but at that price point....

SRAM was the guess because the crankset did not look like Shimano...here is a picture of my huff and puff machine.

I see some fine looking gear there, Dee (frame, derailleurs, brakes, wheels, computer, etc, etc)!

bought them used they are Mavic R-sys with carbon spokes in the front and combination carbon xtal in the back...the bike came with dura-ace groupo , the frame is an older Trek madone OCLV carbon, the same the discovery special builds use, overall it is very lively bike, i do not think i will ever grow into it :). I can easily spend a day in the saddle without getting irritated by any of it. It was a deal i could not refuse, so there you have it.dee

I've been having very similar thoughts about mine, Dee. I doubt that I will ever reach a skill level where I will need a "better" bike, and I also doubt I will ever reach this bike's true maximum potential.
In a way it's sad (money wasted?), but then again...comforting (margin for error).
Ride on, my friend!
