All,
I received word from Mike's brother early this morning that Mike passed away from his fight with cancer.
Mike was like a brother to me. We often talked on the phone for hours about almost anything.
He will be missed and his work will carry on.
I will report back of plans for a service in Philly.
Thanks all, take care;
Gordon

Jeez - what a bummer!
As I posted on the DIY Asylum, Mike and I only met in person a couple of times, but spent untold hours on the phone together.
One of my favorite memories is Mike's over-the-top enthusiasm for dirt-track automobile racing - a subject that I knew absolutely nothing about (and had minimal interest in); but it was so much fun just listening to him talk about it!
RIP brother.
So sorry to hear that. He was so kind on the phone, and I do recall us talking at such great lengths about transformer design.
I am looking at a pair of MQ irons sitting in my amp right now, so sad to hear.
Can we direct message anyone here to find out the mailing address for cards? I will not be in the area, and do not know if we should mail them to the funeral home.
Thanks.
All,
This is from Mike's brother Charles:
Took these words from Michaels Daughter and Changed up the begining. We would love for anyone who knew Michael to join us, his Daughter Rose and surviving siblings, Charles La Fevre, Kathy Skinner, and Leon LaFevre, for a funeral to honor his life. Sorry to say I will not be able to go as and this is so weird. My cousin passed earlier last week and have arrangements to head to Austin for that funeral.
If your in the area, please come out and join his friends. I know Rosie would be glad to hear the stories.

What a rough set of final years Mike went through, but he never let it get in the way good conversation. With me it was motorcycles, bicycles and deep histories of many of the transformers he made. I miss chatting with him, he is deeply missed.

Bas,
I'll dig around and see what I can come up with. It was mostly in conversation.

Damn, we are losing the greats out there. RIP Mike.
Yesterday my Daddy passed away.
I have been trying to call, text or message those who knew him and loved him. (Please don't hold it against me if I missed you.)
He was kind to plan his funeral service ahead of time. And I would love for anyone who knew him to join me and his surviving siblings, Charles La Fevre, Kathy Skinner, and Leon LaFevre, for a funeral to honor his life.Saturday, April 1, 11 am viewing

Riegelsville, PA 18077If you are unable to make it but knew Dad, please do me the incredible kindness of sending me a card or note sharing a memory (or many) of him. This would be very comforting to me.
Message me for my cell and/or mailing address.
I also welcome you to check in on me if I come to mind in the days, weeks, and months ahead. It will never be an imposition and I'll tell you honestly how I'm doing.
And if you know anyone who I should call or text to tell about Dad's passing, you can send me their name and phone number.

I regret never having crossed the pond to go and visit him.
So sad news!
