Hello Mike?
Am interested in knowing how much an Peerless output transformer {#16492} would run me, if you do not have the old ones in stock what would a new one freshly wound cost.
TIA
Ken

You could do much, much better than 16492 for a hifi amp. The low frequency power handling of the 16492 was never intended to be that stellar, and the 1570 specifications are quite clear about this. 40W at 30Hz is going to leave a lot to be desired if you need much more power than that. If you don't need that kind of power, there are other DHTs worth considering.
Mister Blackplate: What would you suggest in that case....150 watts, separate 4 ohm winding for feed-back,6.5k primary and insulation for 1000 volts....Help me out with this..........I need two of them ....Will
When you specify the "150 watts", you need to say at what frequency. A transformer that will do 150W at 20Hz is way, way larger than one that will do 150W at 100Hz.
I would wonder about the necessity of the feedback winding. The speaker secondary on the 1570 floats (perhaps for bridging?), you could ground it and take your feedback from speaker +.
Hammond, Slagle, Electra-Print, Heyboer, and Sowter could all likely wind this transformer for you. The core size might be a little bigger than what Mikey generally produces.
Sir: I need this transformer to go down at least 30 hz, I've contacted Hammond and they can't do it, I've tried to contact Electra-Print without success and Heyboer can't make it unless they have a sample transformer to reverse engineer.........Do you have any other idea's ??? THANKS
I would try submitting Sowter's custom transformer request. Be prepared to spend $1200+ for what you're looking for.
Hammond could definitely make these, but I bet you'd have to buy a run. I guess Heyboer isn't a good choice since the transformer you want hasn't ever been made.
Sir: To spend 1200.00 for a transformer would be nuts and to spend 2400.00 for two of them would be nuts and crazy.....I have talked to Hammond and they told me they couldn't make them, Arline at Heyboer said he could build them if he had a sample......The feed-back winding seems to be a problem and insulation .......W
That's $1200 for the pair, not each. If you go down to 100W at 30Hz, the price will drop to $800. Sowter can handle your design requests, including the feedback winding.
I thought the same, however my friend is looking for a match to a spare pair {1570B}.
