Return to K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers
97.83.44.80
I am attempting to make an all DHT SET. I require very little power or gain, I'm looking for something very simple, Clean and full of "tone".
I'm not sure I understand interstage transformers so I supplicate myself before the master... Does this arrangement make sense/will this work?

There's nothing wrong with the proposition diagrammed above. With a 5K:8ohm output transformer, and two 46 gain stages, you will achieve a gain of about 8dB.
Given the plate impedance of the tube (something like 2400ohms) you could get good results from either the Lundahl LL2753/25mA (1:1) or the shown Lundahl LL2746/30mA (1:2). The Lundahl LL1663/30mA (5K:8ohms) would be my choice for output transformer.
With the output stage cathode resistor shown the IT secondary lead labeled "BIAS" will require a positive voltage applied or the output tube will be cut off. You could use a smaller value cathode resistor and then ground that secondary lead.

Thank you very much for taking a look! I have taken your suggestion to heart. I already have a James 6123 output or I'd be looking to make the new amp all Lundahl. I have more to work out but I'll come back and post here when I have a proper build to report on. And I'll be needing the LL2746 for sure!
