its a Supratek Chardonnay, 6sn7 thanks
Given that the designer has much more experience with 6SN7GTs driving LL1674, I thing that your question is best directed to him. My only similar experience is with paralleled 6SN7GT triodes (1 bottle per ch) driving an LL1676 in parafeed. The LL1676 has the same primary inductance as the LL1674, so it's comparable. I found that 3uF sounded the best and avoided premature bass roll-off as well as subsonic resonances. I didn't try to find a way to use a smaller capacitor, so my experience isn't really helpful.
Can't you use the smaller, "better" capacitor as a bypass on the one in there to good effect?
