I have had the privilege of hearing DH live many, many times. And every time was indeed a privilege. I do not know if he still plays, but his recorded legacy is wide and deep. He has few equals - Oscar Peterson, Paul Smith, Tatum, Flanagan, Hank Jones, and a very few others. He can play anything he wants. The linked article summarizes his career nicely.
(Ray Brown once said that no one does everything perfectly, but that Hyman comes closest). Ray would know.

Follow Ups:
One of my favorite CDs of all time. This disc has been in heavy rotation over the years. I'm surprised the laser hasn't burned a hole through it by now.
wouldn't you say? he has proved to be a real master though.
