I look forward to following her career arc. She's good.
Follow Ups:
Piano wise, she is to jazz, what Yuga Wang is to classical. Right down to the mini-dresses.
Thanks! for sharing- GEO
her fingers seize up. Amazing hands and fast creativity. I would need a slow piece in between though.
I like her interviews. She's committed to the music. Good enough for me.
Wow, the girl can play for sure. Nice trio. Her playing reminds me of Chick Corea, though Chick had a little more soul.
I listened to her interview and liked her even more. She's 23 with a bright future. I am hoping that she continues to develop.
Melissa Aldana, sax
Connie Han, piano
Esperanza Spalding, bass
Terri Lyne Carrington, drums
Should be a gas.....
Add Lakecia Benjamin or Alexa Tarantino on the alto, let Ms. Spalding sing, and give the bass duties to Linda Oh. And I can think of a half doze female pianist I would rather hear.
Ms. Carrington is certainly the top pf the game, but if interested in a youngster, check out Shirazette Tinnin. By the way, I heard/Camile Thurman - also on the linked video - last weekend. She is famulous, but I agree with your choice of Ms. Aldana, arguably the best female tenor of all time.
