I love Lenny White's playing - he's one of my favourite drummers.
But I have a really hard time finding any music he recorded that I actually like.
He produced a lot of fusion music which sounds very dated to me ears, plus I'm not a fan of high octane high decibel music in general.
Is it just me? He did win 3 Grammies......
Follow Ups:
I saw Lenny White first in 1978 when Return to Forever came to town.
What a great drummer (and band).
looking for some jazz and a little libations - joe strummer
That record's pretty good...🙂

Fantastic guitar trio album that is definitely not fusion. Lenny white and Eddie Gomez are fantastic together. I love this album! Give it a listen.
Shaw's debut record. And Joe Henderson's -In Pursuit of Blackness LP. I only have a 6 or 7 records with White playing drums, but these 2 are great.

For an occasional listen....... Very much of its era. Enjoyed it - great beat.
Here's another funk track - nice beat and arrangements.
Really fun

From the album 'Present Tense'.
That record's pretty good...🙂

He's not the leader of the date, but Geri Allen - Some Aspect of Water from 1996 has some excellent drumming by Mr. White.
Ciao,
"Starting in the middle of a musical sentence and moving in both directions at once." - John Coltrane.

Another Geri Allen album. Also nice percussion work from Mino Cinelu on that.

I have 3 of 'em - all REALLY good and all acoustic with killer groups.
TOOOOOOO Hip!
I was aware of these sessions but have never got around to listening to them before today. The first two albums are on Qobuz (wonder where the third one is?). Your descriptions are spot on. All-Star affairs often aren't all that, but these are excellent.

Listening now! My, my.....what good music.Lovely rhythm section. And Freddy Hubbard is my favourite trumpeter.
