My daughter has taken a liking to "It's Been a Long, Long Time" by Harry James with Kitty Kallen. She heard it on an Avengers movie...
Anyway, she's looking for something similar. Not too hot, kind of a slow and mellow swing.
Follow Ups:
it isn't swing band like Harry James or Woody Herman BUT as big band music goes, Patrick Williams knows the territory. this is one of my discoveries from long ago (for me) that really grabs me.
jive samba is this tune, my fave on the album.

Try Peggy Lee with Benny Goodman
She was brought up with the best of the Great American Songbook.
She knows Billie, Irving, George, Satchmo, Ella, etc.
Just looking for something specific in mood.
not sure if they are available on CD, but are cheap on LP.
IF she's a hipster they were available on cassette tape too!
The silver/grey box sets.
Usually packaged by bands, there may be a compilation set as well.
Great pressings, good notes, cheap.
Highly recommended (as are ALL the Time/Life sets).
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
Wasn't that song one of the hits from his pop era (1940's)? I far prefer James in the 50's....not sure how it will fall on ears that might be into the poppier stuff, but seems like a safe bet.

Check out Jo Stafford, Margaret Whiting, Helen Forrest, Martha Tilton, even Nat Cole and Dick Haymes.
