ah ... almost forgot ... the 'Word Jazz' trilogy in the 50's!! 'the Beat Generation' recordings from a Maynard G. Krebs perspective anyway
before my time but a neighbor had those ... he certainly had some influence on jazzers in the 60's ... didn't he eventually do something with the Grateful Dead?

some live performances of Nordine with the Grateful Dead can be found on youtube. I'm not sure whether they did studio recordings together. Nordine also collaborated with Tom Waits.
I ran across Nordine in a two-volume set of books from ReSearch called Incredibly Strange Music that I picked up in the 90s.
I'll check youtube, thanks for the tip
