Just picked up this 2 CD set.
Incredibly FINE performance by one of my favorite bands.
Pretty much doesn't matter which line-up, when they were on, they were stellar.
This night... stellar.

Fine Live concert by Weather Report. Some how I ended up with two vinyl copies, both Japanese imports:

It was '71 and I heard them at the Jazz Workshop in Boston. They were mesmerizing. Played "tunes" from their first album.
I was there too! I sat directly in front of Zawinul's electric piano who was at the very front of the stage. I also saw them at Tanglewood the same summer.
and then it was EXPENSIVE as an import only double LP.
Bought it at Rooks and Becords on Polk street in the 70's.
That and Santana's LOTUS were the two most expensive LPs I bought new for a long time.
Both well worth it.
Just ordered this and am awaiting.
It's great so many of these live shows are finally being officially (as such) released.

Isn't that Miroslav Vitous and Eric Gravatt on your cover there?
dh
You are correct. This is the live performance from 1972, with an earlier version of the Weather Report line-up that included Josef Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Miroslav Vitous, Eric Gravatt, and Dom Um Romano. It's a fine recording and an overall great performance showcasing their earlier fusion sound.I don't recall saying it was the same performance, just thought I'd offer up an alternative performance that I like as well. Either way for fans of Weather Report it is worth a spin and comparison to the '78 band.

You didn't say it was the same, I read that"into" your post. I've never seen that recording before. Sounds like a fine rarity.
