In Reply to: RE: What about original paintings (not photographs)?... posted by DeKay on July 24, 2016 at 10:15:00
The only reason I mentioned photos was in the thorough experiment to find out what was causing the degradation in sound rather than use the original paintings or pictures that could vibrate, use photos of those original paintings and pictures and tape the photos to the wall. The photos won't vibrate, so if the taped photos degrade the sound one wouldn't be able to conclude that vibration is the cause.
The mass of photos isn't anywhere near the mass of framed pictures. The walls vibrate with or without photos taped to them so you can ignore the photos' vibration. But don't get hung up on the photos. Take all the pictures in the house outside and see if that improves the sound. If the sound improves you can figure out why later.
The Brit's consider paintings pictures, so are you talking about photographs or paintings?
I brought "paintings" into the mix, which are different than pictures per my "Born in the USA" mentality.
However, the framing of both types can make them more similar than different as far as vibration, reflection, et cetera goes.
This said, a photograph, taped to the wall of a listening room, will vibrate to the music played in the room.
Also thought you were bringing Quantum Physics into the discussion in regard to "photos".
It's been a shitty week here, so I'm not firing on cylinders.
The proposition: it's the image per se that hurts the sound, not the vibration of the image or the vibration of the glass/frame that holds the image. Now do you see where I'm going with this?
of a threat (which would most likely enhance ones senses) working either way.
One could hear better making the music sound better, or perhaps the enhanced hearing would allow one to hear how crappy their setup and/or source material really is.
The problem is much deeper than I have indicated so far. And there is nothing one can do to counter the effects of the images. Because it's subconscious, so even someone unaware that there is a connection between the images of birds of prey or jet fighters or Lions or Tigers or Bears, oh, my, will hear the difference with and without the presence of the images. In addition to these threatening images there are a gaggle of other symbols, words, expressions that we perceive subconsciously as threatening, things like bar codes, the book Mein Kampf by Hitler. I could go on.

You're starting to sound like my sister who believes in inter dimensional travel and thinks she has fairies living in her back yard.

Yeah Sue, I'd like an answer to Geoff's question. How DID you get so stuck in first gear. Was it when you decided to get those Atma-Sphere mono amps? When you were 11 years old and decided for yourself that fairies were not real? When you failed miserably at inter dimensional travel? When will you evolve girl? Hopefully soon so you can finally realize that the laws of physics are a delusion.
Obsessive compulsive disorder CAN be treated.
Bingo, I'll admit it. I'm OCD in regards to facts. The cure, in this case regarding 54AWG speaker wire does not include drugs or a placebo. As I see it the options for my cure are #1 That Geoff apologizes for the mistake of saying that 54AWG was used as speaker wire and that it came from Mapleshade and the insults, or attempted insults in regards to this issue, #2 Just declare that you, Geoff, are god, lord of the universe, origin of all reality, THE ONE who can make up and change at will the laws of physics,#3 realize that you have a serious mental problem, a psychosis of some sort and seek help. Then I will be cured of my OCD in regards to 54AWG speaker wire. Tweaker
Apparently you've come down with a bad case of the ass. Take two placebos and see me in the morning. Look, I know you're sore, but if you want to have a brain aneurism why not do it over the Mapleshade Power Cord, you know, the one with the ultra thin ribbon conductor, the one so thin you can practically see through it. Now you're talking some real current, not milliamps. Mapleshade is the devil's workshop. Hel-looo!
Since I know you won't answer the questions I will. Mapleshade, as far as I can tell does not make a ribbon AC power cable. The "thin" double helix AC power cable is said on his website to be the same wire as his speaker wire, 18AWG. UL rates 18AWG for 10 Amps under 50 feet in length. Ever heard of such things as facts and evidence Geoff??? Once again, do you think Pierre Sprey is as unbelievably stupid as you are? So stupid as to put out an AC cord unable to carry enough current for a home stereo system? Ha? Answer the god dam question for once Geoff or leave AA. What use are you? Did I spell everything right idiot? I await your non response. Warm Regards, Travis
Yo Geoff, What is the actual gauge of the AC cord you are referring to and does it melt or break when used? Does it overhear and smoke? Does Mapleshade even have a ribbon power cord? I can find no such item. Answer the questions directly with something other than an insult. Does the cord work?? Is he selling these cords that will break or melt when used? Have you actually answered a direct question with a cogent appropriate answer that made sense in you whole F-ing life moron, weasle?
How do you get so stuck in first gear?

Easy. Buy the gear shift on your listening chair from Machina Dynamica.
