I spoke with a techie friend of mine and he is the one who suggested maybe a 12 watt light bulb. The other things he said about Geoff Kait I won't repeat.
In my experience, people who resort to name calling (like Geoff) usually do so as a diversionary tactic when they know not of what they speak.
Prove me wrong Geoff.

The magnitude of this moronacy is mind boggling. If Mapleshade used 54AWG, and I don't doubt it since they seem to be the main thin wire mavens out there they would be using it for interconnect, not speaker wire. That's where the math works out. T
Mapleshade does sell speaker wire, but I'm not sure about the gauge wire they use. If I have time, I'll see if I can find out. I used to get their catalogs in the mail but haven't seen one in quite some time.
If you google "Mapleshade speaker wire" you'll find a number of reviews.

Well Sue, Your techie friend is a bit off also. I did the simple math. With a max current rating of .0137 amps using an 8 ohm load the wattage is about .0015 watts. Yes I got it right. 1.5 to the -03 power. This is how incredibly stupid using 40awg for speaker wire is. 54awg should carry about half the current of 40awg. Twice as stupid. Enough power to blow an amoeba's ear drums out. Tweaker
Awe come on Sue. Go ahead, repeat it.
