Thanks for the report Stu.
I read all the articles a few months ago but haven't gotten around to playing with it yet, but it's surely seems interesting. They seemed quite willing to admit that the mechanism wasn't known and the electron stash business is just speculation. I like that, I prefer bizarre, poorly understood things to be recognized as such and find a simple 'I don't know why it works but it changes the sound' far more convincing than fanciful attempts at an explaination without any correlated evidence.

I didn't use litz wire, I simply used some 3M copper tape I had lying around (4 inches by about 1.25 inches). It was interesting in that attaching another piece of the copper tape ( The tape I had has conductive adhesive) increased the effect. I suspect using even simple wire would have a similar effect, although Bud says you need surface area.

Oh, copper tape.
I like that idea. I've got a roll of copper tape. I was just going to form something from magnet wire but the tape would be much easier, always a good thing for a lazy guy. Errr make that an efficient researcher...
As I recall they were mechanically damping the things every couple of inches or something, maybe I could put stripes of RTV or foam tape across it.
Cargo cult culture here I come! Except this is likely worse because it's harder to assess the outcome.

I have found that the dampening works best when applied close to the termination. This has been true even for purely mechanical devices like a tonearm: the dampening is most effective when applied at or close to the termination. Even a piece of adhesive tape (I used blue painters tape) works effectively on the copper foil.
As far as assessing the sound, the effect was immediate and required no real break in time (I used copper tape and Deltron silver plated hollow pin ends). The audibility is not in question, although the mechanism or rationale of how it works is still to be settled. One would think that attaching spurious wires would make the unit it is attached to more prone to RFI.....
The postings folded the six inch wire into a three inch length and tied cotton string along two points, IIRC.
