Steve (cool name BTW :-{) ),WOW! i LOVE IT when music lovers make references to cars. i agree, the M5 is awesome! Been considring the M3 myself but...
Yes, the Avantgardes are more like F1 where it takes more effort to get them into that top performance bubble. Funny thing is, the car that may wind up in my garage (and annoying local hiway patrolpeople) is a Ferrari 512 (later model Testarossa). While the M5 (or M3) **is** great out of the box, those 12 Prancing Horse cylinders require more love and attention.
Gosh, maybe we are all sadistic people who love the pleasure/pain aspect of life. The Porsche Turbo is another ball of German wax...
Enjoy the music (driving music meistro. Jan and Dean "Dead Man's Curve" on vinyl right now),

"I was cruisin' in my Ferrari late one night
When an XKE pulled up on the right
And rolled down the window of his shiny new Jag
And challenged me then and there to a dragI said, "You're on, buddy, my mill's runnin' fine
Let's come off the line, now, at Sunset and Vine
But I'll go you one better if you've got the nerve
Let's race all the way
To Dead Man's Curve"Dead Man's Curve, it's no place to play
Dead Man's Curve, you must keep away
Dead Man's Curve, I can hear 'em say:
"Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve"The street was deserted late Friday night
We were buggin' each other while we sat out the light
We both popped the clutch when the light turned green
You shoulda heard the 12 cylinder equipped screamin' machineI flew past LaBrea, Schwab's, and Crescent Heights
And all the Jag could see were my Prancing Horse taillights
He passed me at Doheny then I started to swerve
But I pulled her out and there we were
At Dead Man's CurveDead Man's Curve, it's no place to play
Dead Man's Curve...Well - the last thing I remember, Doc, I started to swerve
And then I saw the Jag slide into the curve
I know I'll never forget that horrible sight
I guess I found out for myself that everyone was right"Won't come back from Dead Man's Curve" "

...do you type out those lyrics every time you post? Or do youkeep a store somewhere, into which you can dip in and out? Either way, it makes me smile.

"...The writer stare with glassy eyes
Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage.
Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
With passion and precision,
But now his mind is dark and dulled
By sickness and indecision
And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more...
Some are born to move the world
To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known itFor you, the blind who once could see
The bell tolls for thee..."
