In this case, I don't think they are wolf tones. The low pitch is generated by the control of the bow and its placement on the string. I heard Kimura perform a suite she'd written which show cases each subharmonic, and it was astounding.

Her name is Mari Kimura and she's on the Juilliard faculty. I bet she has recorded something with sub-harmonics. Great musician, that's for sure.
