A few SS amps that I should have working by then. I'd like to compare the LC Audio PWM based digital monster with your Tripath Kurt.
Follow Ups:
Hi Kevin,Sure, I'll bring my Tripath too. Should be a very interesting comparison. I'll also have to bring two Monarchy SM70 amps for bi-amping the CS3115 speakers. How about this, I'll also bring the gaincard clone, just to add another flavor. The more the merrier, right?
Kurt
It is dependent upon Plitron getting my transformers in time. Expected delivery is 4/30 so that doesn't give me much time to throw them together...Eventually what we should do is get an afternoon where we can listen to several of the different SS amps. Maybe pick a couple different speakers... easy load... difficult load and then spend some time with all of them in one sitting. I'm going to have:
#1 Complete Class A design dual mono PS by LC Audio
#2 Class A/B by LC Audio
#3 PWM digital amplfier by LC Audio.
I'd like to have some comparisons with other amps.
Also will have the 2A3 PP DHT from Consonance but I doubt I'll have time to get it together for the meeting.
Kevin
Is the 2a3 Consonace amp a new offering? Does it have a name?
Brian is calling it the Joplin. It is based on the same chassis as the Ella and looks like itI'll cut and paste from his web site. This thing is brand spanking new so some of the specs and such might change. Brian seems to be pretty excited about it. I'm getting one in a week or so to build. Once I get a few free minutes.... I'm thinking of bi-amping some speakers with this on the bottom and the Billies on the tweeter. Don't ask why..... I'm just bored.

Here we 13 watts of rip-snortin DHT Class A Push Pull power with 2A3 refinement.
Features: DHT (direct heat triode), AC on the heaters 'cause that simply the best and with 2.5V hum is not a problem. choke filtered PS, 2 x 5687, 1 x 12AT7, 4 x 2A3 on a single chassis
Easy to build with pin-to-pin wiring system for the main circuit and a small PCB for the PS. Pin-to-pin wiring lets you choose your wire and makes it easier to try other parts. A treat for tweekers.
Specifications: (may change without notice)
- Power output: 13W x 2 RMS @ 1KHZ Class A
- Frequency response: 5-48kHz (-3dB@5W)
- Total harmonic distortion: <1% (5W@1KHz)
- Signal to noise: 90dB
- Input sensitivity and impedance: 1V, 50K ohm
- Output impedance: 4 or 8 ohm, selectable
- Power requirement and consumption: 110/123/220/230/240V AC +- 10%, 90W
